PARTNER ADVISOR

Jim Shagawat, CFP®, ChFC®, MBA

Hi, I’m Jim Shagawat. I’ve been helping people with their finances for nearly 20 years. My goal is simple, to help you stay organized and feel confident about where you stand and where you’re going.

I enjoy working with people who want to understand their finances, not just hand them off. Clients who ask thoughtful questions, want to be part of the process, and value a long-term relationship. Together, we build a plan designed to keep things organized and help you feel confident you’re on the right track.

I focus on financial planning, tax strategy, and retirement income. That means helping you make informed decisions with your money, look for opportunities to reduce taxes over time, and build a thoughtfully structured income plan for retirement. We look at everything together so your investments, taxes, and overall plan are aligned.

I can also coordinate with your CPA and attorney to help keep things organized and aligned, to reduce the risk of important items being overlooked.

InvestmentNews 5-Star Financial Planners 2025 was published on April 14, 2025, and was based on 300 nominations received between November 18 and December 13 of 2024. The InvestmentNews team conducted an evaluation of each entry, assessing the detailed information provided and also benchmarking against other submissions to determine the 65 winners. No fee was paid for participation. The nominations for financial professionals sought to find those who exemplified excellence, integrity, and dedication in helping clients achieve their financial goals. Participants were asked to provide detailed information on nominees, including professional credentials, areas of expertise, and significant achievements. Nominations also required confirmation from the nominee’s compliance team to ensure authenticity and adherence to ethical standards. *FPA/Money Best Financial Planners 2024 – The list of Best Financial Planners was published September 19, 2024, based on data collected from as of July 17, 2024, in a questionnaire that was made available exclusively to all CFP® professional members of Financial Planning Association (FPA) in good standing. The data was tabulated by Money. While FPA members pay an annual membership fee to the FPA, payment of this fee and completion of the questionnaire did not guarantee or influence the probability of appearing on the list. No fee was paid to Money for participation. The list of Best Financial Planners is a collaborative effort of the FPA and Money intended to highlight financial planning professionals independently determined to possess the baseline skills, experience, and expertise most valued by clients who seek professional financial planning advice. Various qualitative and quantitative criteria were considered in developing the scoring system, including each participating planner’s education, length of professional experience, level of ongoing training, disciplinary history (or lack thereof) and professional credentials. Approximately 1,006 FPA members responded to the questionnaire. Being selected as a Best Financial Planner should not be construed to be a promise of any investment result or an endorsement by the FPA or Money and is not representative of the experience of any current or former clients. Clients and prospective clients should also consider that participation was limited only to CFP® professional members of FPA in good standing and did not include the entire universe of licensed financial planning professionals.
