Richard Hansen
Richard G. Hansen, JD, LLMT, CFA®, is a Partner Advisor at AdvicePeriod. Since starting his career more than 22 years ago, Rich has established a track record of supporting his clients in all of their investment, financial planning, insurance, income tax, and estate planning matters. With years of experience in public accounting, portfolio management, and wealth management, he provides his clients planning-first solutions to meet all of their specific needs in a tax efficient manner. Rich specializes in high net-worth individuals, law firm partners, and their families.
Prior to joining AdvicePeriod, Rich was a Managing Director at KLS Advisors. As the most senior advisor in the Los Angeles office for almost 5 years, Rich assumed primary responsibilities for running daily operations and client relationships. Before KLS, he spent five years in the wealth management industry as a Portfolio Manager at Northern Trust, and as a Client Account Manager at Bessemer Trust. Prior to entering the investment industry, Rich spent 6 years in public accounting (with a focus on individual income tax and estate planning), rising to the level of Experienced Tax Manager at Ernst & Young.
Rich is a graduate of the University of Florida where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting (with honors) and Master’s in Accounting from the Fisher School of Accounting. While at the University of Florida he also earned his Juris Doctor degree (with honors) and his Master of Laws degree in Taxation (with honors) from the Levin College of Law.
Along with his various academic accomplishments, he is an active member of the California Bar, a Chartered Financial Analyst, and a Certified Financial Planner.
Rich is also an active member on the Board of Directors for Momentum (formerly known as United Cerebral Palsy of Los Angeles) and the Spastic Children’s Endowment Foundation (SCEF).
Rich lives in Laguna Niguel, CA with his wife Viviane and two children (Stephen and Sierah). He is an avid swimmer and surfer, and enjoys spending his free time with family and friends.
