Phil Boscarino, CFP® leads AdvicePeriod’s CFO Services, responsible for providing business management services to a number of high net worth individuals and businesses. Phil works closely with the executive team to develop and carry out the vision of utilizing technology to create the fully integrated professional services firm of the future.
Phil graduated from California State University, Chico with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, focusing on Accounting. While at CSUC, Phil played on the Wildcats Baseball team. He holds the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Series 65 license and the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation.
Prior to joining CFO Services, Phil was responsible for building AdvicePeriod’s Reporting and Analytics team, implementing processes to help the firm scale its internal team and grow its client base. Previous to AdvicePeriod, Phil was Director of Operations for Westside Investment Management and began his career a Fund Accountant with State Street.
Phil joined AdvicePeriod in April of 2016 when the team was in its infancy. Phil was originally tasked to build out the reporting team and because of AdvicePeriod’s high growth environment, he had to take on a variety of roles prior to undertaking his current position managing the Core Family Office Services (CFOS) team.
The CFOS team handles the clients’ daily financial life, including bill pay, cashflow management financial reporting, and entity oversight. The team is currently five people and he expects to see it multiply in the next few years. Phil also serves on the tech committee where he helps with AdvicePeriod’s commitment to building the firm of the future.
Phil has always had an interest in financial technology, or “fintech,” and he quickly realized that wealth management, in general, was falling behind when it came to utilizing technology. Prior to AdvicePeriod, he was the Director of Operations at an LA-based wealth management firm. Phil found himself seeking a more fast-paced, dynamic career in fintech so when he became acquainted with AdvicePeriod, he thought it was the perfect opportunity to bridge the gap between traditional finance and the future of wealth management.
He was excited at the start-up aspect of AdvicePeriod, with the focus on culture, and the focus on results. Phil quickly discovered his teammates to be like-minded in that they were all talented, passionate, ambitious people looking to grow the company. Because of their passion, the desire to put the mission first felt natural and Phil knew he was at the right place. He likes that AdvicePeriod encourages collaboration and communication and appreciates the time that he gets to spend with his teammates.
Every four years, AdvicePeriod teammates get a four-week paid sabbatical during which they are required to leave the firm (and their work) behind to explore something new. Phil, who was recently married, is planning on traveling around Europe with his wife during his upcoming sabbatical. To make the trip even more exciting, they are going without an agenda, hopping from place to place whenever they desire.
It is rare to find Phil inside, as he is constantly itching to get active outside. More often than not, he can be found at the beach in Santa Monica.
